From 20 to 23 February our research team presented a 4-days hands-on course explaining the usage of deep learning on image analysis. The course was organized and conducted by Prof. Roberto Lotufo and was offered at Unicamp as an extension course. During the 4-days course, a group of young professionals from all over Brazil had the opportunity to program, configure and train deep learning networks to sove real problems such as recognition and classification of characters, people and objects. They were given access to high-performance, GPU-equipped servers to accelerate training and application of developed algorithms, using platforms like Theano and Jupyter notebooks.
